Jason’s Off-Road Camper Trailer Build

Our Off-Road Camper Trailer Plan is one of our older plans that has been used by many builders over the years. One of the finer examples of a great homemade camper is this one built by Jason who sent us a few pictures along the way.

First thing we noticed and really liked was the steep departure angle fabricated into the chassis. This is a departure from the stock plan, but one that we whole heartedly approve of. In a close second place is the steel support frame. This looks really tough and a great way of holding things together on those Outback roads.

But it doesn’t end there. Throw in independent coil suspension, hot dip galvanizing, chequer plate cladding, off road spec alloy wheels, fridge slide, rooftop tent, awning, pole holders, toolbox, swing out spare carrier… the list reads like a premium spec catalogue page. Fully setup, the trailer forms the center of magnificent outdoor base and home from home.

Clearly Jason has not left a stone unturned to build a trailer to suit his exact needs. We were therefore not surprised at all to notice a spirit level on the drawbar – because it ain’t right until it’s right, right?

Well done Jason. Excellent job. Happy camping mate.
