Ben’s Flat Top Wide Bed Trailer

Facebook follower Ben built this really cool wide bed trailer using our plan. He upgraded the ATM in the process which included some extra reinforcement of the deck, as well as upgraded suspension, brakes, axle and tyres. Other modifications included a removable sides and headboard as well as two spares wheel under the rear of the deck.

Ben said the plans were very helpful and made it easy to price materials and cut to size. He fitted a 70mm ball coupling, as 50mm balls are only rated up to 3.5T, and a heavy duty jack stand on the drawbar.

Ben uses the trailer to carry 6m lengths of gyprock sheet, which can extend over the front of the trailer. Being a good mate Ben jumped to the chance to help a stranded friend out, loaded his Patrol onto the trailer and towed it 900km. Apparently the trailer towed like a dream. We’re not surprised Ben, it’s a great trailer that will probably serve you well for year to come.
